Nobody wants that, so let me give you a few tips on keeping them protected from sun, sand, and sea all summer long!

Swimming is a No-Go for Clip-In Hair Extensions!

Ok, I’m going to start off with what I feel is the most important tip I can give you, and it sucks but it will save you a ton of time and headache. You do not want to go swimming with your clip-in hair extensions. I know, but trust me, it’s a recipe for disaster! This goes for both the pool and the beach water. Chlorine and the salt in the water will damage your extensions by drying them out immensely. On top of that, your hair will tangle like crazy! I can tell you from experience, it’s true and it’s not fun. You will literally spend an eternity trying to untangle your natural from the hair extension so I recommend avoiding it all together.

Wave Goodbye to Salt Sprays!

So, you want those fabulous beach waves you saw Blake Lively sporting last year, right? Of course, who doesn’t?! The question is, what is the best way to accomplish the wavy style without damaging your even more fabulous clip-ins? The first thing that comes to mind are those popular mermaid salt spray’s that have been all the rave, but for us hair-extension rockin gals, it’s best to stay far, far away! These sprays contain sea salt which again, damages not only the hair extensions but also your own hair. They also contain alcohol, delivering a double dose of dryness, frizzies, and tangles. Instead, you should opt for a keratin-infused leave-in conditioner. Simply soak the hair, scrunch it up with your hands, and you’re all set. You’ve got bold, beautiful, beach waves that are full of body without all the harsh chemicals.

Too Hot to Handle for Your Hair Extensions!

I’m sure you guys already know how the sun’s harmful UV rays can wreak havoc on your skin but it can also damage your hair extensions. The constant heat from the summer sun can easily and quickly dry out your clip-in hair extension leaving them looking less than cute. This isn’t exactly something you can easily avoid but you can combat it by deep conditioning your clip-ins on a regular basis. We always recommend using a keratin-infused conditioner and soak the extensions starting at the ends and working your way up. You can expect the best results by either leaving the conditioner on overnight before rinsing them or wrapping them up under a warm dryer for a good hour. Deep conditioning is essential for keeping your hair extensions (and your natural hair) hydrated and moisturized during the summer.
