Help! I lost a lot of hair… what can I do?

This weeks post is a step by step guide on how to get your hair back on track. Simply follow these simple tips for a couple of months and your hair will grow thicker and stronger.

Many women experience hair-loss. This can be caused by hormonal changes, like a pregnancy or if you have a health condition that causes your hair to loose it’s nutrients. Over-heating, styling your hair the wrong way can also result in thinner hair.

If you’re suffering from thin hair, you probably have fine hair strands and your hairline is irregular. This is normal for fine hair, because it breaks too early before it has the chance to become long enough to create a thick and even hairstyle. But don’t worry! Your hair-type is not uncommon and there are a couple of tips and tricks you can do to get your hair thicker.

All of these thinning hair issues are normally caused by over-heating, cutting the hair the wrong way, bleaching (color treating) and not giving back the proteins to the hair. To get your hair back on track, simply follow these steps:

  1. Get a blunt haircut. Skip the layers! Go for a long bob without layers (or short one if it’s short). You can still have some around your face, but keep it simple in the back. Tell your hairstylist to only cut your hair straight off. No layering, no razoring! And no slicing through the hair. Blunt haircuts really help fine hair to look THICKER.
  2. Choose a natural hair color. You want to avoid using strong chemicals on already weak hair. Give yourself a nice tone with the help of toners and don’t use lightening colors, bleach or dye. Find a beautiful shade close to your natural hair color and stick to it. Don’t change your hair color too often. This will really help your hair from breaking.
  3. Get a volumizing shampoo. This will help your hair to look fuller. Don’t wash your roots with heavy products and don’t apply conditioner onto your roots. Only wash your roots with a gentle volumizing shampoo.
  4. Use a quality KERATIN conditioner. Apply a small amount onto your mid-parts and ends every time you wash your hair. Keratin is an important protective and structural protein in the hair. Adding this protein will help build up your weak hair and make it possible for your hair to grow thicker and longer.

If you follow the above steps and stick to these caring tips, you’ll be able to see a great change in just a couple of months.
