Synthetic Hair vs. Real Human Hair Extensions – Which to Choose?

Hair extensions are great for many different reasons. You can go from short to long hair, add volume to your hair, or just add a splash of color to your hairstyle without dyeing your own hair.
But, do you go for synthetic or real human hair extension? This is a hot topic in the world of hair extensions. In today’s post, we share our perspective on this topic in hopes that it will help you choose between the two options.

We believe that the first thing to consider is how often you’ll be wearing your hair extensions. Is it for a specific occasion (maybe an updo you want to try for a party coming up)? Or, will you be wearing your hair extensions on a regular basis, as you maybe want to add length or volume to your own hair?

Real human hair can be styled in various ways – it can be curled and straightened. Synthetic hair, on the other hand, has its limitations. But, if you are looking to do a more extreme, edgy party hairstyle (like adding a bold color or volume to a braid), synthetic hair might be a better option. And, a cheaper option as you might not want to spend that much on one occasion.

Keep in mind that synthetic hair can’t take a lot of heat. Although most synthetic hair extensions can be styled using a low heat setting, it’s best to read the label, just to be on the safe side. If the recommended level of heating is exceeded, the hair will unfortunately melt.

If you are looking to use your hair extensions on a regular basis for a more everyday look, synthetic hair probably isn’t the best option for you. Synthetic hair has a tendency to look shiny and is hard to blend with your own hair for a natural looking result.

Real human hair is more or less like your own hair and is very versatile in that way.
However, it’s also important to consider the quality of hair when buying real human hair extensions, and we recommend getting Remy hair. Remy Human Hair is the highest grade of real human hair and last longer than other cheaper alternatives of human hair extensions. Remy human hair extensions are more expensive but definitely worth it if you plan on using your hair extensions on a regular basis.
