HOW-TO: TWISTED SISTER

It looks complex, but it's actually very easy!

This guide will show you the original and basic style so you can practice it first before diving into all the different variations. Time to dive in!

Hello, ladies, I am back with this popular go-to style that takes about 3 minutes and can be worn in many different ways from a ponytail, up-do or even a bun. Today, however, let’s do the original and basic style so you can practice it first before diving into all the different variations. Now, you do need medium-long to long hair for this style but if you don’t, you can always use Estelle’s Secret clip-in hair extensions. They are easy to use, long-lasting, and always the highest quality remy clip-ins. Other than that, you only need an elastic band for securing the end of your hair and two clips!

  • Hair Clip
  • Comb

ARE YOU READY TO DO THE TWIST? LET’S DO IT!

STEP 1:MAKE A PART

You can start this eclectic style by making a deep side part of about 3 inches or if you’re like me you can just eye it, lol!

* Clip the rest of your hair to the other side just to get it out the way for a bit.

STEP 2:TWIST BACKWARD

Ok, starting at the top, start twisting your hair backward.

STEP 3: MOVE DOWN AND ADD

Slowly move down the side of adding small sections of your hair into the twist until you get to the bottom, at your hairline. Use a clip to keep your hair from unraveling.

* Be careful, if your hair unravels you will have to start over but it’s not the end of the world since it only takes a minute.

STEP 4: BRING IN OTHER SIDE

Gather your hair from the other side and bring it towards your twisted side.

STEP 5: MORE TWISTING!

Holding your hair in your hand twist the hair. So, this twist is just starting below your hairline. Once you have twisted about half way down, hold on to it tight!

STEP 6:NOW TWIST TOGETHER

While still holding your twist, carefully remove the clip from the first section of hair you worked with and start twisting the two sections together.

*As you’re twisting the two sections of your hair together you also want to make sure they are being twisted individually.

STEP 7:CAREFULLY SECURE

Now, when you get to the end be super careful not to let the combined twist go, get it secured quickly with an elastic band.

That was a lot of twisting, I know, but it’s so worth it! This look can really go with any outfit. I think it looks romantic but edgy all at the same time. Oh and a quick tip, this style will naturally loosen up over the course of the day so I wouldn’t loosen it up yourself too much. Also, even though this is a really quick style, it can definitely take some practice trying to keep your twisting going without letting it unravel. Just don’t give up! Once you get the hang of it, there are so many cool variations you can do with it!
